Adult/High School-In a satiric near future, privatization has taken over all aspects of public life-including schools, police, and government-and the world is divided among economic blocs. Surnames reflect the company people work for, and, increasingly, the alliance of corporations to which the company belongs. When hapless Hack Nike, a lowly Merchandise Distribution Officer, runs into the wrong people-John Nike and (yes) John Nike, Vice Presidents-at the watercooler, he is inveigled into a highly illegal, unethical merchandising act. When he goes to the police for help, they sell him a contract (which he can't afford) to take the job off his hands, and then subcontract the work to the NRA, which botches it, putting Field Agent Jennifer Government on the case. Jennifer is a single mother with a savvy daughter, Kate Mattel (children take the name of their school), who is a bit of a heroine herself. A hard-boiled detective with a soft heart and a ready wisecrack, Jennifer has an enigmatic tattoo, a mysterious past, and a mission to bring down wrongdoers-especially at Nike. The story takes her on a madcap chase across the United States Economic Bloc from Melbourne to London, culminating in a bizarre world war with a surprising outcome. The cast includes quite a few characters, and while they aren't deep, they are colorful, pointed, and funny. This fast read should please a variety of teens with its hip attitude and hilarious turns, and could spark lively discussions.

Your Fashion Style is Casual

You prefer to keep it laid back. Jeans and a t-shirt are practically your uniform. And when you dress up, you're still the most informal person in the room. Dressing formally makes you feel stuffy. Just because you're casual, it doesn't mean you're unfashionable. In fact, you often look effortlessly chic. You know how to rock a perfect fitting pair of jeans and a funky t-shirt. Not many adults can pull off your look, but you can!

It is increasingly clear that recent choices, made either by you or people close to you, are not negotiable. The only route is forward with no looking back. You should now be able to appreciate that those things, people, situations and environments that have survived the journey with you so far, have proved they are of real substance in your life - and likely to last for the long term.

Glad you're along for the journey with me. I feel like I'm stepping onto an old-school wooden rollercoaster. Wish me luck.

Even solid steel becomes soft and malleable if it is taken to a high enough temperature. You have, this week, the cosmic equivalent of a powerful furnace. No matter how set in your ways you may suspect you have become - or how fixed you feel your situation has grown, you can alter something significant if you wish. Surely, there's no question about whether or not you wish this to happen. You do wish it... you just don't want to waste your wish on something that may not be possible. Well, it is possible. So turn up the heat and start melting the obstacle.

Maybe.

Today consisted of sleep. And then dinner with a friend and much intellectual conversation that we both needed.

And now I'm here at work.

I can hardly contain my excitement.

I'm hearing word that Sweeney Todd is almost sold out :( so I'm thinking Boondock Saints sequel instead. But Matt hasn't seen the original, so we'll have to fix that this week (or before we go see the sequel I suppose :P).

Tomorrow will be sleep, and probably some PS2, some minor errand running near my place (maybe the start of Christmas shopping, hmm) and GETTING ON THE FREAKING WALL. It's been about 3 weeks, so I'm super antsy. It's the second best form of stress relief I can think of, and since my favorite form might not be available for awhile with the people I want it with (no, not Austin), wall climbing it is. I can't. WAIT.

Then my last. LAST!!! work shift.

eep! gotta post this quick before the minute changes :P

K you may be FOR the H1N1 shot, and you may be against it.

But please tell me you don't believe "the government created the virus to control the population".

And how the fuck can that be an argument AGAINST getting the shot? If you don't want to be "controlled", don't you WANT to be immunized?

It's a really cool idea of a charity event - taking pictures for the less fortunate.

All sorts of skills are needed aside from just picture taking (at all levels): makeup artists, food/drink slingers, people to obtain donations of printers/ink, you name it.
